History

The Bellows Falls Cash Market on Atkinson Street was started on November 10, 1924, by Tony and Lena Lisai, who arrived in Bellows Falls in 1922. Tony's Brother Mike went to work at the grocery store as a meat cutter in 1926 and continued working there until his death.

In 1957 Tony retired and his son Lolik, along with his wife Marguerite, took over the business. Lolik had been working with his father so the grocery business was nothing new to him. Today, Lolik still owns the business in Bellows Falls that is run by his sons Gary and Brent. Gary's son Shane, represents the fourth generation to be involved with the family business. Gary and Brent's brother Ray has also become involved with the operation of the store.
